Rinse, drain and pit the cherries. Pit over a baking dish that will catch the cherry juice. Then stir sugar and vinegar with the juice, let it boil for 10 minutes and cool. Crush 1 tbsp of the mustard seeds in a mortar and fill into glasses together with the whole seeds and the cherries.

Pour the gravy over them and close the jars.

These vinegar cherries go just as well in an Italian leaf salad as they do with pork or possibly game.
