Stir the pudding powder with the buttermilk. Set aside. Boil dried fruit with a little water until soft.

Boil the milk with the sugar.

Add buttermilk mixture and let it all boil again. Season with salt.

Add soft boiled dried fruit to the soup.

In the Siegerland region, toasted bread cubes are often added instead of the dried fruit. This dish is then called “Suffe”.
