Instructions:

To prepare the filling, bring cow’s milk to the boil with sugar, honey, a little salt, lemon peel, cinnamon and vanilla sugar, add the poppy seeds and let them swell. Add the rum and refrigerate the poppy seed mixture. In the meantime, cut the plums in half and remove the seeds.

Roll out the strudel dough on a floured paper towel. Carefully spread poppy seed filling onto dough, top with plums. Mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle on top of fruit. Roll up strudel tightly, close ends neatly and place in a horseshoe shape on a baking sheet. Brush with melted butter and bake in heated oven at 220° Celsius for about 1/2 hour. Sprinkle with fine sugar and place on the table hot or alternatively lukewarm.

Tip: Cinnamon gives dishes a wonderfully sweet and spicy note!
