For the strawberry chocolate chip cupcakes, wash the strawberries. Set aside 12 pieces for garnish.
Mash the remaining strawberries and boil them down with 2 tablespoons of sugar in a saucepan over low heat for 10 minutes, refrigerate.
Line a muffin tray with paper cups and preheat the oven to 170 degrees. For the sponges, beat the butter with the sugar until very creamy (takes at least 5 minutes) and beat in the eggs one at a time.
Mix flour with baking powder, salt and sift onto the butter-egg mixture, add the chopped chocolate and the measured strawberry puree as well and stir everything in well.
Fill the sponge mixture 2/3 into the ramekins and bake for 20 minutes.
For the topping, beat the mascarpone with the sugar until creamy, stir in the strawberry puree and spoon a dollop onto each sponge.
Garnish the strawberry chocolate chip cupcakes with the strawberries.
